Sanatana-Aboutus

Sanathana Natyalaya ®, Mangalore centre for classical dance is creating awareness of this art since 1984. Since 3 decades the institution has been teaching Bharathanatyam to hundreds of students and also shaping their life by inculcating Indian culture among them.

It was in 1984, a novel foundation for this institution was laid by late N.K. Sundar Acharya a prominent musician. With great passion for this art, a vision in mind, and strong commitment his daughter vidushi sharadamari Shekar (Dance guru, Sanathana Natyalaya) is leading this institution with the moral support of her husband Sri Chandrashekar K Shetty (Director, Sanathana Natyalaya) As the present generation started taking keen interest in this art forms the institute started expanding its branches across rural areas of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi like Karkala, Moodbidri. Thus enabling rural children also to learn this art.

Guru Sharda Mani Shekar with Vidushi Srilatha Nagraj have been training students. Every year hundreds of children pass out with the Junior, Senior, Vidwath grade certificates conducted by K.S.E.E. Board Karnataka under the able guidance of gurus.

15 student have performed arangetram (Rangapravesha) successfully and we are also proud to have 14 students honoured with ‘B’ grade artist of Doordharshan. Dance ballets like “Punyalahari” (250 stage shows) “Sathyanapuratha Siri” (175 performances) and “Rashtra Devobhava” (300 stage shows) are the proud productions of the institution which are widely appreciated and caught the attention of art lovers.
